Karachi’s Digital Traffic Crackdown Crosses 288,000 E-Challans

Karachi’s e-challan system has issued more than 288,000 traffic tickets since its rollout in October, showing a sharp rise in digital enforcement across the city.

The figures were shared during a review meeting at the Central Police Office Karachi, where Sindh IGP Javed Akhtar Odho assessed the performance of the new traffic mechanism.

Officials said over 52 percent of tickets have already been delivered to vehicle owners, while the remaining are in process due to address issues or refusal to accept notices.

Authorities revealed that nearly 71 percent of challans have been paid, with many first-time violations waived to encourage compliance.

More than 12,000 vehicles have also been blacklisted for fake number plates, theft records, and ownership irregularities.

The IGP ordered coordinated action against blacklisted vehicles and stressed greater use of technology and smartphone-based ticketing to modernize traffic policing.
